Brittany is a mobile gaming addict! Her favourite genres are simulation, casual, RPG, tycoon, fashion, adventure, puzzle, and city-builders.

If you go searching in the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store for “fashion games,” you’ll see tons of apps to download. It can be hard to tell the fun, in-depth games from the basic, “drag-and-drop an outfit on a doll”-type game just from looking at the icons or game descriptions.

As a big fan of fashion and dress-up games, I’ve downloaded and tried nearly all of them at one point or another, and I have found the ones I truly think are the best of the bunch.

“Covet Fashion”

Covet Fashion is the #1 fashion game in the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store, and it’s easy to see why. It allows you to dress up models of different sizes, shapes, and skin tones. You can customise their hair and makeup and of course, their clothes. The unique thing about Covet Fashion is that is uses clothing and accessories from real-life fashion brands, so if you’re a fan of fashion, you’ll really enjoy this game!

The game gives you different themed challenges with special requirements to dress up your model, with the option to win prizes of in-game currency and rare clothing items. Players get to vote on the challenges to determine the winners, and you can join fashion houses to socialise with other players and win other special/rare prizes. The game has a HUGE variety of clothes to choose from for your models (and new pieces are added daily, with seasonal refreshes four times a year).

I’ve been playing Covet Fashion on and off since it was released in 2013, and it’s always a game I come back to, thanks to its massive selection of clothes, cute hair accessories and props, and the fun of joining a fashion house and winning rallies.

“Glamm’d”

In Glamm’d, you travel the globe to enter fashion competitions. Each city has a handful of themes to enter, and after you complete a look, other players vote for the winning score. Most of the gameplay is similar to the other fashion games out there, but Glamm’d has a few things that definitely sets it apart.

One of the biggest things that sets Glamm’d apart (besides its more cartoon-y style), is that there’s a lot more versatility in how you can design your model. You can pick and choose from different eye shadows, eyeliners, and makeups- mixing and matching them on your models, rather than just having to choose one preset makeup look.

Besides the makeup, this game has a nice selection of clothes, accessories, hairstyles, and even tattoos! I also love that you can change the background of each entry, rather than having to choose a preset one that goes with the prompt.

I actually love the art style of Glamm’d- I think the models look so cute, and it’s a lot of fun creating new looks, unlocking new rewards as I level up, and playing around with all the makeup, tattoo, and hairstyles.

“Love Nikki—Dress Up Queen” and “Shining Nikki”

SUITSME

For a long time, Covet Fashion has dominated the fashion/dressup game genre as far as realistic graphics go. There hasn’t really been a worthy competitor, but SUITSME is proving to be a good alternative.

Much like Covet, there are challenges to enter, models to design, and looks to vote on. The wardrobe is made up of digital versions of clothes from real designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Mui Mui, and Gucci. There’s a big variety of accessories- hats, scarves, headbands, lapel pins, glasses, and more. The challenges are timed, with a large selection to enter every day and generous rewards for winning.

I really like SUITSME and it may even be my favourite fashion game at the moment; the models are lovely, the results don’t take too long to come back, it seems easier to get a high score (there doesn’t seem to be any “cloning” like in Covet, for example), and the rewards are nice.

I also really love that this is one of the few fashion games on the market that doesn’t require you to vote on looks to gain tickets to enter each challenge (because, let’s be real, it gets pretty boring voting on looks after a few rounds or two…)!

“Fashion Nation”

Fashion Nation looks like yet another Covet knock-off, but it’s got a few different gameplay mechanics that sets it apart.

Unlock many of the fashion games above, there’s no required clothing on the challenges, but there are trending pieces you can choose to design with to boost your score. Not having to buy required clothing for the entries definitely allows for more creativity for styling!

There’s also a huge collection of clothes to choose from, including lingerie, which isn’t often a category of clothing in these type of games.

I also really like the Training section of the game, where you compete in instant competitions against other players, by dressing your model in the best outfit that fits the theme’s category (e.g. “party” or “classic”).

This game is another worthy competitor to Covet and the other fashion games on the market, and the currency is rewarded pretty freely, so you don’t have to worry about running out of cash too fast.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race Superstar”

This entry is something a bit different, since RuPaul’s Drag Race Superstar is a spin-off game of the popular RuPaul’s Drag Race reality competition show, but it still fits in the category of fashion and dress-up.

Rather than dressing up a female model, you’re tasked at creating your own drag queen persona, dressing them in female clothes (though you can also create an “out of drag” look, too!), and facing off against other players in drag- just like on the show!

This game is a bit similar to Love Nikki in the competition part of the game- you dress up according to theme and the player with the most themed items wins. There aren’t static challenges to enter, as the game is designed after the show, so all the dressing up is purely to outslay your competition.

There’s also a “werk room” part of the game which plays like an idle game; you let the pit crew help while you get ready for the competition by clicking on the buttons and levelling them up their stations.

As an enormous Drag Race fan, I find this game really easy to love, but even if you’ve never seen the show, it’s a lot of fun dressing up your drag queen, fighting off against other queens, hearing the sassy sayings as you hit the runway, and buying new clothes.

Love Nikki—Dress Up Queen is mainly based around dressing up the titular character Nikki, but there’s more to it than meets the eye!

There’s a main story (which is fully voice acted), that you can play through, but there’s also free-dressing and competitions, special arenas were you play off against other players, a variety of stores where you can purchase clothing to complete Nikki’s huge wardrobe, and special time-limited events in the game which run every few weeks!

Love Nikki is also unique in that there’s a crafting component in the game; you can win and unlock recipes, decompose old clothes, buy dyes, and use the materials to create new hair, clothing, and accessories. The game is very gacha-heavy as well, and there’s so many clothes and outfits to collect that it becomes slightly addicting.

There’s also a newer version of Love Nikki called Shining Nikki, which has a similar story/gameplay style, but with 3D art. I definitely recommend checking it out if you like the original Love Nikki game!

“Kim Kardashian Hollywood”

Kim Kardashian Hollywood is a mix of dress-up and RPG game. You start off as her assistant and you can dress your avatar in a variety of clothes and hairstyles. The goal of the game is to work your way up in the world of celebrity and basically have a life of glitz and glamour, similar to Kim K’s real life.

I’d say the main focus of this game isn’t so much dressing up, but it’s still a good option for fans of the genre. You unlock more clothing options as you level up and it’s definitely fun picking out outfits, hairstyles, and makeup for your avatar. A lot of the clothes are based on real-life pieces from Kim herself, so if you’re a fan of the Kardashians or their style, you’ll particularly like this game!

Questions & Answers

Question: It’s annoying to see games for younger people everywhere when I search for good fashion games. Could you do a more grown up list?

Answer: I’m not sure what you mean by “more grown-up”; there are not many good fashion games in general for younger people or “older” people. If you’re looking for something with less cartoony graphics, the best option would be Covet Fashion.

Question: Do any of the fashion games have avatar/story options for guys wanting to play?

Answer: I believe the Kim Kardashian game allows you to play as a male, but I know games like Love Nikki and Covet Fashion have female only avatars. They should make more fashion games geared at guys, though!

Ok so I played this one game and it was so much fun but I forgot what it was called. You basically had a closet right and u were given a model. U had to put clothes and stuff on the model and pick backgrounds and stuff and post it to ur account where people could like it and follow you. Think Instagram but for fashion. Does anyone have a clue what it was called??

I haven’t seen many games that do either that are *good*. There’s a few games in the app store for wedding or celebrity dress-up but they’re not very good games!
