This charity event brings together guest stars, fans, families, children and the amazing costuming groups for a Force filled weekend.

Enjoy exhibitions, talks, workshops, craft sessions and loads of photo opportunities. Meet your Imperial or Rebel heroes, see droids put through their paces, or learn how to wield the galaxy’s most elegant weapon.

The Planets Not So Far Away Join our presenter led fulldome tour of the night sky that has been created for this weekend. We will show you planets you may recognise from the movies you love and games you play. Discover the real science behind the science fiction of exoplanets, and who shot first (maybe not that last bit 😉)

Made in Leicestershire Meet Bob Brechin, Palitoy’s Lead Designer from 1967 to 1984. When Star Wars was released in 1977 the manufacturing licence went to a company called Palitoy; based in Coalville in Leicestershire. In 1978 Palitoy employed about a thousand people. By November of that year, annual sales had topped £20 million (over £88 million today).


Jake and JAKe Join our special guests, Jake Lunt Davies and JAKe Detonator for a chat and Q&A. Jake is a creature concept designer who has worked on many Star Wars films and shows. He is credited with designing BB-8 and the Porgs, amongst many others. He is joined by Star Wars artist and illustrator of ‘How To Speak Astromech with BB-8 ‘ JAKe, as they talk all things creative and what goes into drawing this amazing universe of creatures.

How to Draw Star Wars Artist JAKe Detonator has created some of the best Star Wars art for Lucasfilm, Disney and the ever-popular books such as How to Speak Wookiee, and How to Speak Droid. He also appeared at the Celebration IV and Celebration Europe art shows, and he tells me that his artwork has been seen on all kinds of merchandise, including pants! JAKe will show you how to draw your very own simple characters.


Making Tracks LIVE Fantha Tracks writer and podcaster Mark Newbold is joined by fellow host, and CO of the UK Rebel Legion costuming club, Mark Mulcaster for the very latest news from the world of Star Wars. Making Tracks is a long running and ever popular Star Wars podcast. Bring along questions, sit back and find out the inside track and maybe there will be a few surprises along the way.


How the Force Can Fix the World Join US based author and Star Wars podcaster Stephen Kent. What if we looked to Star Wars for more than just entertainment? How the Force Can Fix the World takes this challenge on by analysing the core principles of the Star Wars franchise: HOPE, CHOICE, HUMILITY, EMPATHY, REDEMPTION, BALANCE and rejecting FEAR. Special Guests Jake Lunt Davies Jake Lunt Davies was a creature concept designer on many Star Wars movies and shows. Among others he designed the Luggabeast, BB-8, Rey’s speeder, D-0 and the Porgs. In between spending 6 years of his life at Pinewood working on Star Wars he also provided character design and development for Artemis Fowl and Dolittle as well as concept work on WW2 horror Overlord and 10 Cloverfield Lane.

JAKe Detonator JAKe Detonator is a graphic artist and designer, who has worked for Lucasfilm Ltd. creating original artwork and merchandise, for both the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. He has three Star Wars books – How to Speak Wookiee, How to Speak Droid with R2-D2, and How to Speak Astromech with BB-8. JAKe is also the creator and director of Geekboy, a series of animated shorts which appeared on the Sci Fi channel, in which the title character meets notable science fiction icons including Darth Vader.

Bob Brechin Robert (Bob) Brechin was Chief Designer at Palitoy Ltd. He is probably most famous for designing the toy ‘Action Man’ which had a gripping hand that was based on Bob’s own hand. Bob was Lead Designer at Palitoy from 1967 to 1984, which included the 1977 licence to create a full range of toys for a brand new movie franchise… Star Wars!

Exhibition The Planets Look up and discover an art exhibition trail of planets. Some you may recognise as based on planets visited in sci-fi movies, whilst others might be unknown to you. Find out more along the way and see if you can spot them all.
