Queen & Rook Game Cafe is also in search of Servers/Gamekeepers looking to start a choose-your-own-adventure with us at our board game cafe in Queen Village, Philadelphia.

Part time positions are available; base pay starts at $4 / hour + tips.

** Knowledge of modern board games required. Previous experience in a high-volume full-service restaurant is preferred. Must be able to stand, walk, carry plates, bend and reach for extended periods. May require pushing, lifting up to 35 pounds, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, as needed. Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire. **

Duties include:

Greeting and interacting with guests in a warm welcoming manner.
Guiding guests through our menu; being knowledgeable about our food, preparations, and ingredients.
Taking accurate food and drink orders and providing friendly, attentive service that makes our guests look forward to their next visit.
Make thoughtful and fun game recommendations to guests.
Provide quick walk-throughs to teach guests how to play select games.
Bussing tables and running orders form the kitchen.
Preparation of delivery orders and coffee items.
Quickly and accurately handle payment for services and items.
Attend trainings and learning sessions.
Arrive on time to each shift ready to work.
Other duties as required.

LINE COOK (Full Time)

Queen & Rook Game Cafe is in search of upbeat Line Cooks to join us at our board game cafe in Queen Village, Philadelphia.

**Qualified candidates for the line cook positions must have two or more years’ experience as a line cook in fast-paced, high volume kitchens **

Queen & Rook Game Cafe is a full service casual restaurant with a liquor license and 1,200 + board games. Our menu focuses on plant-based American bar standards with an international influence.

Proper food handling and sanitation procedures must be followed at all times. A valid Serve-Safe certification is required, but can be obtained prior to starting. Proper and safe use and maintenance of all kitchen equipment is mandatory.

Duties include:

– Prepare food to order

– Accurately follow recipes.

– Operate, maintain, and properly clean kitchen equipment.

– Pre-service prep to set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies.

– Organization and cleaning of kitchen areas including your station, walk-in, and dry goods pantry.

– Stock, date, rotate, and check temperature of products.

– Report and record inventory and Prep numbers

– Follows all safe food handling procedures.

– Follow all COVID related safety procedures

– Attention to all allergy and customer requests.

– Other duties as assigned.

Applicant should have positive energy, good attitude, be flexible, be professional, and strive for perfection, while also loving a fun environment with a diverse cast of characters who will rely on you and will be relied on by you.

Preference given to Cooks with experience in plant-based or vegetarian cuisine.

Compensation: Hourly ($15.00)

DISHWASHER (Part Time)

Queen & Rook Game Cafe is in search of upbeat Dishwashers to join us at our board game cafe in Queen Village, Philadelphia.

Queen & Rook Game Cafe is a full service casual restaurant with a liquor license and 1,200 + board games. Our menu focuses on plant-based American bar standards with an international influence.

A qualified applicant must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods, work in a hot damp environment, and follow instructions over the noise of a high volume kitchen.

Duties include:

– Proper maintenance of the dishwasher and dishwashing station.

– Ensure that dishes and cookware are sanitized and available as needed.

– Sweeping and mopping of restaurant.

– Completes assigned prep work and pre-service duties, including stocking deliveries.

– Cleaning and sanitation tasks at the end of the shift, including work area and restrooms.

– Light kitchen duties including washing, cleaning, and chopping and cutting fries.

– Thorough understanding of safe food handling.
